Rho-Nucleon Tensor Coupling and Charge-Exchange Resonances
نویسنده
چکیده
The Gamow-Teller resonances are discussed in the context of a selfconsistent RPA, based on the relativistic mean field theory. We inquire on the possibility of substituting the phenomenological Landau-Migdal force by a microscopic nucleon-nucleon interaction, generated from the rho-nucleon tensor coupling. The effect of this coupling turns out to be very small when the short range correlations are not taken into account, but too large when these correlations are simulated by the simple extraction of the contact terms from the resulting nucleonnucleon interaction.

Counting pions in the nucleon
The number of pions in the nucleon is a theoretical concept and its value is model dependent. It is, however, a useful tool to understand the pionic contribution to several nucleon observables such as electric charge radii, magnetic moments, axial charge, pion-nucleon coupling constant, amplitudes for electroexcitation of baryon resonances and electroproduction of pions above such resonances.
متن کاملWhat Have We Learned from Antiproton Proton Scattering?
From recent charge exchange measurements in the extreme forward direction, an independent and precise determination of the pion nucleon coupling constant is possible. This determination has reopened the debate on the value of this fundamental coupling constant of nuclear physics. Precise measurements of charge exchange observables at forward angles below 900 MeV/c would also give a better under...
متن کاملHeavy-ion charge exchange in the eikonal approximation
In high-energy collisions (E,,, > 50 MeV/nucleon) the eikonal approximation provides a transparent description of heavy-ion exchange reactions. The formalism is applied to the reaction ‘3N(‘3C, 13N)13C at 70 MeV/nucleon. The relative contributions of pionand rho-exchange are determined. It is found that heavy-ion reactions are more sensitive to the one-pion exchange component of the interaction...
متن کاملSoft two-meson-exchange nucleon-nucleon potentials. II. One-pair and two-pair diagrams.
Two-meson-exchange nucleon-nucleon potentials are derived where either one or both nucleons contains a pair vertex. Physically, the meson-pair vertices are meant to describe in an effective way (part of) the effects of heavy-meson exchange and meson-nucleon resonances. From the point of view of " duality, " these two kinds of contribution are roughly equivalent. The various possibilities for me...

We calculate the modification of a rho meson in nuclear matter through its coupling to resonance-hole states. Starting from a recently proposed model, we include all four star resonances up to 1.9 GeV. In contrast to previous works, we include not only resonances that couple to the rho in a relative p-wave, but also those that couple to an s-wave state. In addition, we solve the equation for th...
